Whether you’re a federal agent, a cop, or just a civilian, DeSantis holsters are a great way to carry your firearm. These holsters are comfortable to wear and conceal well. They are also lightweight and easy to draw from.
This holster is an excellent choice for in-the-waistband (IWB) carry and is available for left-handed shooters. It is made of premium saddle leather and features an adjustable cant.
Use a Holster With a Belt Loop
The most apparent use of a belt loop on a chest holster is to prevent it from moving around your waist as you move. This allows you to consistently position the gun for drawing and presenting, keeping your technique manageable.
Another reason for using a belt loop is to allow you to carry the pistol while wearing clothing that doesn’t have belt loops. This is often the case with sweatpants, a jogging suit, scrubs for work, or other clothing that leaves little room for a traditional belt and holster.
A belt loop is a perfect place for a holster designed for the outside-the-waistband (OWB) carry of the Sig P320. For instance, the DeSantis holsters are designed to fit this pistol.
Use a Holster With a Belt Strap
While holsters designed to be worn on the belt may seem like an excellent option for everyday use, some essential considerations must be made. For one, the holster should be secure enough to retain the firearm during the activities performed while wearing it. Otherwise, it’s very easy for a concealed weapon to dislodge itself from the holster during activity and potentially allow someone else to access it.
One solution to this problem is a holster that uses a belt strap. These holsters typically have a few slots built into the back side where a belt can run through to help secure the holster to your hip. Another way to maximize the potential of a belt holster is to use a belt loop on your pants and the slits on the holster. This provides an extra level of security while making it easier to take a holster on and off without unhinging your belt.
Use a Holster With a Holster Strap
DeSantis has been in business long enough to know what works. This leather holster is a classic, and they’ve kept it simple with a pancake OWB design that hugs close to the body for concealment. It’s the kind of holster that a plainclothes officer would wear.
To make your holster strap, cut a piece of 1″ wide leather for the shoulder strap. Cut another rectangle of the same size, then sew it stable to the top of the first strip. If you’re a righty, loop the right side up to the left side of the strap.
Glue the top insert into your holster, clamping it between the two blocks for 5-10 minutes until the glue is dry. Then, use the prong punch and hammer to create stitching holes. Stitch around your insert with a heavy-duty needle and string. When you’re finished, the strap will stay securely in place.
